Elmer Chan
Elmer has been DJ’ing for over 15 years. As in all beginnings,
his events started out small. He went from DJ’ing birthday parties and
house parties but then evolved into a club DJ. His DJ resume includes
places such as RPM (now The Guvernment Nightclub), The Joker, The
Phoenix Concert Theatre, Whiskey Saigon, and many others. As a result of
his experience with different styles of music, Elmer is able to meld
different genres of songs into one unified mix.
In addition to his smooth mixing talent, Elmer is well known for
talking on the microphone to get his crowd excited. Throughout his
nightclub stint he was known as “DJ Rhyme” specifically because of this
MC’ing trait. Elmer’s interaction does not end only at the microphone
but when all else fails to move a crowd, he will intermingle with guests
and dance with them. Although he is not a professional dancer, he has
learned many types of dance throughout the years and tries to teach
these dances to others to ensure continuous fun.
Elmer’s abilities are well respected as he was a highly recommended DJ for The Metropolitan Hotel and The Grand Hotel & Suites. Presently his main source of business comes from wedding receptions and corporate social events. He does not do any advertising. All of his business is strictly referrals! Elmer’s love of DJ’ing definitely comes out in his work. It is this love which continues to catapult his ever increasing popularity as a DJ and drive DJ/FX forward. He lives by the words “always doing our best to please your guests”.

Jimmy Manuel
DJ Jimmy Manuel, also known as j-presto, has been with DJ/FX for over
10 years. Music has always been a part of his life. “Music can
definitely cure any illness of the mind,” he says. Growing up his
strongest influences were rhythm & blues, along with hip hop and
house music. Positive role models were DJ Jazzy Jeff, Lil’ Jas, and DJ
Rhyme. His passion for DJ’ing comes from the rush of the crowds when
they enjoy his music and creative mixing style.
Working with DJ/FX has given been a positive experience. It has
prepared him with the skills to dj in any environment – whether it be a
wedding, school dance, birthday party, corporate party or club.
Although technology and digital music have progressively phased records
and turntables out of the mobile djing scene, DJ Manuel still enjoys
using them on a regular basis. “I stay true to my roots…records and
turntables are what got me where I am now, so why stop now? I’m only
getting better and there is no limit.”
Christian Reyes
I am know as “Big Boy”. The reason being is that I bring the
muscle for labour and take-down of our equipment. I’ve been a part of
DJ/FX for many years and still going strong. I also work as the DJ/FX
Light Technician. I set up all the FX like our intelligent lights,
hazer, and bubble machine.
Our PA sound is cleanly for that professional look
for all functions. I make sure that our lighting and sound is in top
shape and performing to its maximum output. DJ/FX has given me
much experience and knowledge. I’ve been taught by the best and still
learning everyday.
Alex Manuel
My name is Alex Manuel, also known as AJ, and I am the newest member
of DJ/FX. I’ve been with DJ/FX for about 2 1/2 years now. I am learning
new skills and knowledge at every event. The more experienced members
are quite supportive of my learning in every way. My job presently is
helping out with the setup of the sound, lighting and special effects.
My goal is to learn the basic characteristics of being a disc jockey
and hopefully follow in my brother’s footsteps (Jimmy). This company has
given me the opportunity to work in an organized and functional
environment. I’m glad to be a part of a team such as this and I hope to
be a part of it in the future.
